Classmates
Ann Barton (Tomlinson)
Comments
After graduating from W-L, I attended William & Mary, along with at least 25 others from our class. Four of us also joined Pi Beta Phi there. During the summers, I started dating Tommy Barton (Class of '59) and we married in 1964 after I graduated.
Tom entered a management training program with Ford Motor Company's Washington District Sales office after graduating college.
I taught 2nd grade until our first child was born and then retired to raise Tom, III, a daughter Kristin, and twin sons, Bob and Dan. Tom left Ford Motor Company after 10 years and decided to work toward becoming a Ford dealer. After five years with the Koons organization, he bought a dealership in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Beach Ford. We also bought a Ford, Lincoln, Mercury dealership in Suffolk, VA.
Now, two of our sons are running the dealerships, and another son is a dentist. After 10 years of teaching, our daughter is getting a second Masters in order to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and do family counseling.
We are fortunate to have all our children and seven grandchildren (4 boys and 3 girls) right here in Virginia Beach. We have lots of family fun in Virginia Beach, Nags Head, Venice, Florida, and an old cabin near Charlottesville.
Tom's reunion last fall was great and we are looking forward to seeing more W-L friends this fall.
