After graduation I headed for Brigham Young University for my under graduate work in Pre-Dental courses. I interrupted that to go on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon) for two years. After that I finished my BA in Spanish and more courses for dental school. I was accepted to Georgetown School of Dentistry and graduated from there in 1970. The West has always called me, so I moved to Palo Alto, California and set up practice in the Bay Area. I sold that practice in 1979 intending to move back East for family reasons, but I stopped off in Utah to ski and ended up practicing there for eight years while also working on some entrepreneurial interests. I moved back to Alexandria in 1988 and have practiced in Northern Virginia ever since. I still enjoy sports especially volleyball and skiing, but my marathon years are over. The last 15 years have included a great deal of time caring for my father and mother who have both had strokes and needed constant care and supervision. My mother, Mabel Hackney Dixon is still alive and will be 102 years old this month. Some of my class mates will have had her as their English teacher or for homeroom at W-L. She sends her best wishes to all who remember her and still know what a dangling participle is. Currently I'm trying to get a conservative local candidate elected to Congress. How times and philosophies have changed since we were at Washington-Lee. As for my future I hope to spend more time doing dental missions among needy people of the world and dedicating more time to religious activities in the Washington, DC Mormon Temple. I've never married, but maybe, with a little luck I'll achieve that goal. I guess I'll have to quit being so picky or others picky toward me. Ha! I'd be happy to hear from former classmates.
