After graduation from Washington-Lee in June of 1960, I attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute from September until graduation with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a Commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in June of 1964. I was based at Craig Air Force Base in Selma, Alabama, as a Student Pilot and then as an Instructor Pilot where I flew T-33 and T-37 aircraft. During an Air Force training course in San Antonio, Texas, I met Donna McElroy, who had grown up in Seattle, Washington, but was teaching Elementary School in Texas. We were married in August of 1968. In 1970, we left the active Air Force to move to Atlanta, Georgia, where I started to work as a pilot for Delta Air Lines. I remained in the Air Force Reserve and retired some years later with the rank of Lt. Colonel. I retired from the left seat at Delta in 2002 after flying too many different types of airplanes to too many different cities to list. I bought an airplane and have been instructing students to fly. I also fly a small twin-jet airplane for three guys here in Atlanta. We have two children. Matt (USAFA '96) is an Instructor Pilot in the Air Force Reserve flying T-38 aircraft. He and his wife, Whitney, live in Columbus, Mississippi. Matt has just this month accepted a position as a pilot for Delta Air Lines. Lindsay (Roanoke College '99) is the Senior Business Manager, Pharmaceutical Service at Emory Healthcare. She and her husband, Warren, live in Atlanta. Warren is Number One in the Georgia State University Law School Class of 2011. Donna and I appreciate the work that has been done to make our 50th High School Class Reunion a success. We look further back in time to acknowledge the blood, sweat, and tears that were spent for us in the early 60's by our teachers, coaches, administrators, friends, and parents.
