IN MEMORY - May 28, 2008
Thomas Earle Cox III ("TOM" ) passed away peacefully after a heart attack while awaiting by-pass surgery, May 28, 2008. Tom was born in Atlanta, Georgia but as a military dependent, he lived all over the world including Yokohama, Japan and Trieste, Italy. This fostered his romantic and adventurous personality. He loved to see new places and meet new people. He attended East Carolina College (now University), Greenville, North Carolina, where he was an outstanding Air Force ROTC cadet, member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity and Assistant Coach of the University Swim Team. Tom was the Chief of Procurement for the Military District of Washington, Club Systems, before leaving to become an executive with Shelby Williams Industries, an international contract furniture company. In 1980, Tom moved to, Knoxville, Tennessee, to assume the position of Vice President of Sales. Tom's last Shelby Williams assignment took him back to the city of his birth, Atlanta, Georgia, as the companies, Divisional Vice President. He later retired to Panama City Beach, Florida where he had many cherished friends. Tom loved to spend time with his family, play golf and to travel, particularly to Hawaii. He was a member and officer of many professional and community organizations. Tom's devoted wife of 44 years, Corinne (Godsey), was a 1964 W-L graduate. In addition to Corinne, Tom is survived by his daughters, Corinne (Kirby) and her husband, Derek, of Knoxville Tennessee; Erinn (Siemer) and her husband, Daryl, of Tampa, Florida, and Heather Cox of Panama City Beach, Florida; four grandchildren, Zachary and Hayden of Knoxville; Kannon and Madeline of Tampa, Florida. Tom is also survived by his sisters, Gayle Webster, Port Angeles, Washington (W-L 1954); Beverly Rogers, Tampa, Florida ( W-L 1955 ), and Dianne Featherston, Mill Valley, California (W-L 1957), and his identical twin brother, our classmate, Norman.

Tom would have loved to have been at the W-L Class of 1960, reunion. Please remember him in your thoughts and prayers.
