Gary/Tim Swift and I dated at W-L. We are proud to celebrate our 46th wedding anniversary this summer.

After graduating from college, we lived briefly in Sandusky, Ohio. Our two young boys returned with us to Arlington, where we lived for 28 years before retiring to the Northern Neck of Va.

During my career, I taught at all grade levels from kindergarten to 8th grade. The best job was the one I retired from in 2001. I was the reading/ language arts specialist at Williamsburg Middle School, my alma mater. In that position, I did not have to record grades or do report cards - the bane of a teacher's existence. Gary's early career was in retail management. He owned a store in Northern Virginia. Prior to that, he was a retail supervisor for a large midwest theme park. After leaving the retail business, he worked as a marketing manager for several new home builders in the Washington Metropolitan area.

Now Gary and I are living the good life in a beautiful part of the state. Our home is near the water, so we can pursue our love of boating. Gary has recently renewed his boyhood hobby of fishing, and both of us "play at golf". The course is outside our front door. My favorite pastime is gardening. I spend numerous hours happily weeding and tending flower beds. Church activities and volunteering at the historic schoolhouse in our neighborhood fill our dance cards.

Being retired permits us to travel, which we never had time for when we were working. The British Isles, the Oregon and California coasts, Quebec, and Maine are a few of our favorite places.

We love to visit our two wonderful boys in Northern Virginia. Neither is married so there are no grandchildren. When we visit, we stay with my stepmother who still lives in Arlington, so we have had a chance to see the changes to W-L. After the visits are over, we feel a sense of relief when we escape the traffic and return to our home in the country. We are looking forward to seeing our classmates at the 1960 reunion!
